The Hall of  Honor recognizes three categories:
  • Exceptional Leadership
  • Regional Legacy
  • Regional Treasure

Exceptional Leadership Category Criteria

The Nomination must identify and document how the nominee meets the following criteria:

Recognizes exceptional leaders who, by their actions, exemplify the outstanding principles and values of the recreation, park and leisure movement. Nominees shall have inspired and served as excellent role models and made significant historic contributions in their communities and to the quality of life for the Region.

The contribution of the nominee shall have been exhibited in the areas of recreation, culture, parks, and leisure, and may have been a result of service as a professional or as a paid or voluntary service by a person from a related or non-related field in the public, private, commercial, or non-profit sectors.

The nomination shall include documentation to indicate significant and enduring contributions to the quality of life in the region in as many of the following areas as applicable.
1) Significant project(s) and/or program(s) that the candidate was recognized as being personally responsible for leading,
2) Leadership positions held that led to a significant contribution to the indicated project(s) and/or program(s),
3) Public service outside primary work responsibility,
4) Recognition, awards and honors received,
5) Publications, Policy Development or Master Planning,
6) Training, education,
7) Public facility planning, design and/or development.



Regional Legacy Category Criteria

The Nomination must identify and document how the nominee meets the following criteria:

Recognizes current or historic individuals or organizations who created the vision, championed and led important and significant improvements to the quality of life in the region.

The nominee is recognized as having led the way to the creation of significant and historic benchmark projects, events or programs within the region. Their vision, leadership and/or management is unquestioned. The project/event/program has had multi-generational significance in effecting leisure lifestyle and quality of life.

The nomination shall include documentation to indicate significant and enduring contributions to the quality of life in the Region in as many of the following areas as applicable.
1) Project(s) and/or program(s) that the nominee was recognized as being responsible for,
2) Public service beyond primary work responsibility,
3) Recognition by their peers of the day, through awards and honors received,
4) Positive, lasting influence on generations.





Regional Treasure Category Criteria

The Nomination must identify and document how the nominee meets the following criteria:

Identifies historically significant programs, areas or facilities and the sponsoring organizations, collaboratives, partnerships, individuals and/or foundations.

Must be located within the nineteen county CPRS District 2 region and have great historical significance and tremendous multi-generational impact on the quality of life in the region.

Submission must include documentation of significant contributions in as many of the following as applicable.
1) Profound or original influence on the recreation and leisure opportunities and/or quality of life within the region,
2) Will continue for generations,
3) Has contributed to the quality of the development and growth of individuals, quality of life, causes or movements,
4) Has contributed to the quality of the development and growth of individual or group training or education, life fulfillment or leisure pursuit,
5) Has received recognition, awards, honors from the greater public,
6) Contributes to the economic vitality of the region.
